Hannah Traore Gallery is delighted to present Art That Money Can’t Buy: a pop-up exhibition and culinary experience curated by Chef Roze Traore, highlighting artists Bahati Simoens, Cedric Tchinan, Gbemileke Adekunle, Marcus Leslie Singleton, Mayumi Nakao, Midegbeyan Ojsua and Terrence Maluleke. The exhibition will be presented alongside three intimate, curated meals in the space. Each of the artists featured in the exhibition have participated in Traore’s residency in Côte d’Ivoire, housed within his boutique hotel, La Fourchette de Roze, where artists, creatives and entrepreneurs can connect over their shared love of history, culture and community. Residency artists are tasked with setting the aesthetic tone of the hotel, from designing staff uniforms and curating lobby music to creating work to be showcased on the walls. Roze’s vision now travels to Hannah Traore Gallery, where residency artists will display their work in a new setting, coinciding with a priceless, multi-course food experience taking place from May 9-12, reflecting the culture of Côte d’Ivoire.

Rōze Traore is a chef, media personality and entrepreneur. As a child, Roze recovered from open heart surgery as the result of a congenital condition, looking towards the kitchen as a place of healing and recovery, leading to his lifelong passion for the culinary arts. At age 18, Roze packed up his knife kit and enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu, spending the following years working with many of the most prestigious kitchens in the world, including Eleven Madison Park and The NoMad. Inspired by the different cultures and flavors experienced during his travels, Rōze has perfected a distinct ability to translate elements of elevated fine-dining into approachable techniques for the enthusiastic home chef. Throughout his career, Rōze has made it his mission to help those of every socio-economic background, working to bring the pleasures of eating fresh, beautiful food to communities facing food insecurity.
